Biography: English painter, Thomas Patch moved to Italy in 1747 where he first made a reputation in Rome. His scene paintings were highly popular among English tourists. Patch moved to Florence in 1755 and began painting caricature and conversation pieces. Patch was a friend of Reynolds, who also excelled in caricature paintings.
